February 4th, 2024
This is a preview of our bulletin for the week of February 4th, 2024
Over at the Forest Kindergarten, our chickens enjoy running around outside their coop as much as our students love to play and explore outside in the yard. Here, you can see a little boy trying to corral the chicks together in order to share a ride on his sled.

The middle school is learning about anatomy and balance by looking at sketches by da Vinci. The Renaissance artist was ambidextrous and often wrote in script in mirror image using his left hand. Students tested their own skills at ambidexterity by first drawing their left hand with their right, then drawing the right hand with the left. Finally, they tried their "hand" at mirror writing. There were lots of giggles of surprise, but though everyone found the non-dominant hand to be rather wobbly, they were able to show improvement within the course of one drawing.
Class six completed their hand sewing class by making these warm, fleece mittens. Can you find the ones with squirrels and hedgehogs on them?
During their Geography block, the 6th graders have been spending time every morning finding different countries, cities, seas, and other geographical locations. They have been using maps, globes, and atlases. Recently they have been challenging each other with locations they come up with. This past Friday one was Ittoqqortoormitt.
Can you find it?
There was a great turnout at the Preschool Fair held at the Saratoga Springs Library last Saturday. We partnered with many other schools to share information about our respective campuses with visitors who stopped by.
Class five, while learning about ancient Egypt, made studies of King Tutankhamun's sarcophagus, noting its lush colors and intricate pattern of gold and lapis lazuli.
Last week we enjoyed sharing our monthly Windows Into Waldorf with families interested in Waldorf School of Saratoga Springs. It was great to welcome a few new faces into the Lower School for the presentation.
We invite you to come learn more about the history of our building, how Waldorf started here in Saratoga Springs, and how our grade teachers connect the dots with the children they teach every day, every week, and every year here at the Lower School. Feel free to bring friends or family members along as we share some of the many ways Waldorf is a unique educational journey for all of our students.
Our next meeting will be February 27th @ 9:15
