This is a preview of our bulletin for the week of April 29th, 2024
DID YOU KNOW?
Pollinators are key to the reproduction of wild plants. Without them, existing populations of trees, shrubs, herbs, mosses, ferns, and grasses would steadily decline - even if soil, air, nutrients, and other life-sustaining elements were available. Pollinators provide food, form habitats, and also provide a wide range of other resources for many animal species. They play an important role in regulating ecosystem services that support food production, healthy habitats and natural resources the earth needs.
WE LOVE OUR POLLINATORS!

This past Saturday's Windows Into Waldorf paired with our Spring Walk-Through Open House was a fantastic success. We thank all who came and all who helped make this event a wonderful experience.
Grade 4 has been anxiously waiting for a special delivery - which finally arrived on Thursday. Now, these eggs will be inside incubators for 21 days. We are so excited to watch them hatch. right here at Waldorf Lower School! Stay tuned!
In recognition of Earth Day, class five walked to Congress Park to paint the landscape "en plein air." They were asked to paint two pictures from observation: one of the wider, panoramic landscape, and one of a single object up close. This required them to shift their focus from wide and general to narrow and detailed. In addition to learning two ways to look at the world around them, they learned that, when painting outdoors, the wind can blow your paper away, the light is very bright, and curious ducks can follow you. Most of all they had a great time on a beautiful day enjoying this lovely earth of ours.
On Wednesday, we got to watch students set up for archery club in the back yard and then showcase the skills they are learning with Mr. Stewart. It was great to see Cappy, a former student, here to help out! Even Alex, a 5th grader, instructed me to stay out of the danger zone when taking pictures.
Thanks, Alex!
In Mr. Whitney's Woodworking Class, 5th grade students are busy fashioning and finishing their spoons and bowls assignment. It's always fun to see these end-of-year projects ready to go home. The students are so pleased of their work and we celebrate this joy with them all.
