The 5th grade went to the Harvard Museum of Art and the Harvard Museum of the Ancient Near East last Friday. The class has studied many ancient cultures this year, leading up to this field trip. What a way to spend a day! They even got to celebrate their field trip with pizza on the way home!
Class five made some botanical paintings of lilacs during the peak of their blooming season. They observed the flowers first up close and drew in great detail, then painted them from a distance in a bouquet and learned how to blend and blur the details.
The 3rd Grade has been working very hard on their class building project with the help of Mr. Whitney. The class is making a chicken coop, to house Grade 4’s classroom chicks at the Forest Kindergarten. It has been amazing to see the project come together in the backyard here at the Lower School. The chickens and coop should make their way to the Forest in just a few weeks!
MORE PHOTOS FROM 5th GRADE'S HELP WITH THIS SPECIAL PROJECT WILL FOLLOW...STAY TUNED
The 6th graders worked hard this week on their cookie sale. They measured, mixed, baked, dipped, sprinkled, and cleaned up afterwards. They counted cookies, coins, and bills as they made up orders and gave change back to customers. The cookie sale ended up selling 116 cookies to students, staff, and faculty. Proceeds will benifit a local animal shelter. They raised over $150 dollars!
